The perfect rural getaway for 2-4 guests right on the Shropshire Way in an AONB. Light, spacious and carefully renovated, the Shippen has an oak & glass gable and south-facing decked veranda overlooking the stunning Linley Valley for heaven-sent views. A wood burner, central heating, designer décor, super-comfortable King-size bed, crisp white linen, soft white towels, extra blankets and a well-stocked kitchen ensure home comforts all year-round. Walker, cyclist, family and pet friendly.

The Shippen is a detached, light, spacious, open-plan barn conversion with an oak and glass gable overlooking the fabulous, unspoilt Linley Valley - providing home comforts and a great base for outdoor pursuits all year round. It’s heaven for couples or families (there's a sofabed and travel cot if you've little ones in tow), and perfect in every season; snuggle up by the the log-burner in winter and barbecue in summer.

The property has been carefully renovated with exposed beams, oak joinery and flooring, a wood burning stove and central heating, and a stylish, modern interior.  There is a super-comfortable king size bed, double sofa bed, well-stocked, contemporary fitted kitchen with breakfast bar, a dining table with benches and high chair, a wet room that takes a wheelchair with large basin, WC and under floor heating.

The living area has a corner sofa, smart T.V with FreeSat, Netflix and a PlayStation 3, Bose sound system, books and board games, extra blankets and lots of other extras to make sure you have a lovely, comfortable stay.

Stroll the cobbled streets of Bishop’s Castle and Shrewsbury, enjoy a local pint by the river, hike to the top of the Long Mynd. Then back to board games by the fire, bright starry skies, and owls that hoot you to sleep.

The Neighbourhood

The property is surrounded by the most beatiful Shropshire countryside with miles and miles of fields and woodland walks and a brook for paddling at the bottom of the valley.

Steeped in peace and quiet, there are stunning views and star-filled night skies. Located on the Shropshire Way, within a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and just a 10 minute drive to the Long Mynd and 3 miles from the Stiperstonrs, designated a site of special scientific interest, the immediate area is great for bird watching, romantic walks or more challenging hill walking, cycling, riding, golfing, hang gliding, nature loving and kite flying!

There are lots of pretty villages and market towns, castles, book and arts festivals, houses and gardens to explore. Eat out nearby The Bridges, a lovely riverside pub in Ratlinghope serving great food and locally brewed ale just a couple of miles away, or visit the market towns of Shrewsbury, Church Stretton or Bishop's Castle with their attractive streets, cafes, museums, breweries and arts and antiques. The county town of Shrewsbury, on the banks of the river Severn, is just a 25 minute drive away; much loved for its fine buildings, cobbled streets, museums, restaurants, and independent and high-street shops. Ludlow, famed for its castle, food fair, Michelin starred restaurants and beautiful architecture is a 40 minute drive away, and the drive passes medieval Stokesay Castle.

A little further afield are the famous gardens at Powys Castle and The Ironbridge Gorge World Heritage Site, and for book-lovers Hay-on-Wye famed for its antique and book shops is about an hour's drive away and hosts a great literary festival every year.

Getting Around

A car is essential for exploring the local market towns and bringing luggage/supplies. There are regular buses to/from Shrewsbury from Bishop Castle (Minsterley Motors). Masses of great walking and cycling. The property is in a valley which makes a wonderful walking/cycling circuit, approx. 7K.
